Ferry Road
Street guide, Hamble
Ferry Road leads down towards the river at the point where the Hamble-Warsash ferry operates. The ferry is a small passenger boat that crosses the River Hamble between Hamble and Warsash, providing a pedestrian link that avoids the long road journey via Bursledon and the A27. Ferry Road is short and steep in places, dropping down to the river level. There are a small number of residential properties along it, some with river views. The road terminates at the ferry landing stage, where a small waiting area serves passengers. The ferry runs regularly during daylight hours and is well used by walkers, commuters heading to Warsash, and those walking the Solent Way long-distance footpath. Ferry Road has a picturesque quality, offering views across the river to the houses and boatyards of Warsash.
