High Street

Street guide, Hamble

Hamble's High Street runs south from the junction with Hamble Lane towards the waterfront and The Quay. It is the principal street of the village and the spine around which the settlement has grown. The street is lined with a mix of period cottages, rendered houses, and some later infill. The Bugle pub sits on the High Street and has been a fixture of village life for generations. Coronation Parade, a short row of shops, provides everyday retail on the eastern side. The street narrows as it heads south towards the river, and the older properties near the waterfront have the character of a Hampshire fishing village, with modest frontages and small gardens. The High Street carries all the through traffic heading to The Quay and the foreshore, which makes it congested on summer weekends and during sailing events. Parking is on-street and limited.
