Marinas in Hamble

Berthing, boatyards, and marine services on the River Hamble

The River Hamble is one of the most marina-intensive rivers in Britain, and Hamble village itself is home to two major facilities: Hamble Point Marina and Mercury Yacht Harbour. Together they provide hundreds of pontoon berths and a full range of marine services.

Hamble Point Marina sits at the southern tip of the peninsula where the river meets Southampton Water. It is a large, modern facility with pontoon berths for a wide range of vessels, from small sailing dinghies to substantial offshore yachts. The marina offers fuel, pump-out, showers, laundry, and car parking. The boatyard provides haul-out and storage, and marine engineers and riggers operate from the site. The location gives direct access to Southampton Water and the Solent without needing to navigate far upriver.

Mercury Yacht Harbour, on the river side of the peninsula off Satchell Lane, occupies the site of the former TS Mercury training school. It provides pontoon berths, a boatyard with crane and hard standing, and a range of marine businesses. The river location gives sheltered berthing and easy access to the main channel.

Further upstream on the River Hamble, additional marinas at Port Hamble, Swanwick, and Universal Marina extend the total capacity. The river is estimated to accommodate around three thousand boats across its various facilities.

Berthing costs on the Hamble reflect the river's popularity and its prime position for Solent sailing. Annual fees vary depending on the marina, the berth size, and the services included, but they are at the higher end of the south coast range. For many boat owners, the convenience and the sailing waters justify the premium. Waiting lists for popular berths can be long.
